Mercury Group bought major share of stock of Phillips de Pury & Company, international auction House, mainly dealing with contemporary art. Thus, a new unique union having no analogues in Russian history and selling luxury goods and art, has been created. Besides, representatives of the Auction House stressed the fact that many clients of Phillips de Pury are also clients of Russian Mercury.

According to experts, the deal amounts tens of millions of US dollars. The most important fact for interested observers is that the deal is happening on the background of catastrophic situation on fund markets. That means that Mercury and its clients highly appreciate the potential of Russian art market, is interested in it and is willing to add to luxury goods the most gorgeous brand called "art".
