Clock of the century
The installation of the biggest clock in the world was completed in the atrium of the "Central Children's Store on Lubyanka". The project was considered more than 100 hours of design options, and the final design and installation was carried out for 6 months. It is assumed that the clock will go smoothly for at least another hundred years.
The main clock movement is located at the fifth floor. The movement weighs 4.5 tons and consists of 5000 parts made of steel, aluminum, titanium and coated with gold. The current clock mechanism reaches a size of 6 to 7 meters and consists of 21 gears, 4-meter-balance escapement wheel and 13-meter pendulum. The precision will be governed by planetary gear and adjusted by means of an innovative electronic device, and the movement will be automatically wind up by pendulum.
